Beef Price in West Jakarta Remains High

The government’s effort holding market operation to lower beef price still has no great impact. Beef price in several traditional markets in West Jakarta remains high.

Based on data from West Jakarta Sub-dept. of Cooperative, Micro Small Middle Enterprise and Trade (KUMKMP), beef is sold Rp 120 thousand/kg. Other staple foods prices are also high.

Broiler chicken is Rp 35 thousand/kg, kampung chicken Rp 75 thousand/head, chicken egg Rp 22 thousand/kg and kampung chicken egg Rp 40 thousand/kg.

Next are kembung fish Rp 40 thousand/kg, cooking oil Rp 12 thousand/kg, sugar Rp 16 thousand/kg, green peanut Rp 21 thousand/kg, peanut Rp 28 thousand/kg, local beans Rp 10 thousand/kg, curly chili Rp 30 thousand/kg, red chili Rp 25 thousand/kg, red/white onion Rp 35 thousand/kg, and so on.

Sri Yuliani, West Jakarta Economy Assistant, admitted her side will try to lower staple food prices by holding bazaar or cheap market at settlement next week.

“We sell beef, chicken meat, cooking oil, sugar, and so on,” she stated.
